Just kidding!
Although the internet is a powerful resource for both kids and adults alike, you really do need to take a break once in a while.
This is the weekend. A great time for all children to connect with family! This is the prime time to talk about the past week and get feedback from your siblings or parents.
If you can't get them to talk about anything, start a family newsletter online, and tell everyone you need their participation to add information. Then you can also view it as well as send it to family and friends around the states (the world?).
Check with your parents about listing personal schedules and times, in case thieves are also reading.
A written out version like a family journal can also be helpful to communicate with one another during the week. Work at it, make it like a scrapbook together, cut out magazine photos (as long as you use the right ones), and color. You will love this family project!
A weekend scavenger hunt inside the house might also be fun. One can be the organizer and hide the items, and the rest scout for hidden treasures.
If your family likes table tennis or pool, you can buy equipment for that also.
Have you tried keeping observational notes from your back yard or porch? Watch or feed birds. Watch squirrels. Write about their behavior and become an expert in your science class.
I loved the outdoors as a child. Snap photos and add it to your journals or newsletters, and scrapbooks.
Any activity that keeps you working together and talking is a nice break away from the internet.
So, enjoy the weekend, play, sit down and talk, or have a Movie Night! Your dad can get the popcorn, unless your mom wants to, and play some favorites. Order a pizza or whatever your family prefers.
Have an exciting weekend!
